ASD Assessments
Dr Karim has a special interest in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and has conducted assessments for hundreds of children and young people aged 6 to 18. Her ASD assessments are widely recognised by the NHS and are often used to support Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) applications.

Dr Karim’s ASD assessments are carried out with a neurodevelopmental clinical nurse specialist whom she works with closely, ensuring the process is multidisciplinary and aligned with NICE guidelines. She conducts all of her ADOS assessments in-person.
The assessment process involves:
-
Sending a set of electronic questionnaires and feedback forms to the young person’s parents, the young person and their teachers.
-
Holding a video consultation with parents to gather a detailed developmental history and understand the young person’s needs.
-
Meeting the young person and their parents in clinic to conduct a formal, standardised autism assessment (ADOS).
Following this, Dr Karim prepares a comprehensive report with clear recommendations for support and next steps. Reports are sent by email and post within 2 to 3 weeks of the assessment date. If an earlier report is required, Dr Karim may be able to expedite this on request.
