ADHD Assessments
Dr Karim has a special interest in autism spectrum disorder (ASD) and attention deficit hyperactivity disorder (ADHD) and has conducted assessments for hundreds of children and young people aged 6 to 18. Her ADHD assessments are widely recognised by the NHS and are often used to support Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) applications.
As a psychiatrist, Dr Karim is able to prescribe ADHD medication for young people in whom this is indicated. She only prescribes ADHD medication to young people whom she herself has diagnosed with ADHD.

Dr Karim’s ADHD assessments are conducted in-person and include testing for attention deficit disorder (ADD). The assessment process involves:
-
Sending a set of electronic questionnaires and feedback forms to the young person’s parents, the young person and their teachers.
-
Meeting the young person and their parents in clinic to:
-
Take a developmental history.
-
Have the young person complete a computerised QBCheck (where appropriate).
-
Observe the young person undertaking tasks and responding to questions.

Dr Karim is often able to provide the outcome of the ADHD assessment verbally at the end of the appointment (assuming all forms were completed prior to the appointment) and to discuss next steps. Following this, Dr Karim prepares a comprehensive report with clear recommendations for support and next steps. Reports are sent by email and post within 2 to 3 weeks of the assessment date. If an earlier report is required, Dr Karim may be able to expedite this on request.
