Dr Lubna Karim is a Consultant Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist practicing in Surrey. In addition to her NHS practice, she runs private clinics in Guildford and Esher for children and young people aged 9 to 18.

She is experienced in treating a wide range of mental health conditions impacting young people and their families and works in a friendly, caring and confidential way. She takes a holistic approach to treating mental, emotional and physical health.

As a​ child psychiatrist, Dr Karim is a medical doctor and is able to diagnose conditions and prescribe medicines. Her medical degree is from Guy's, King's and St Thomas's medical school, University of London. She undertook core psychiatry training at the Royal Free and University College London Hospitals and she completed her specialist training in Child and Adolescent Psychiatry in the South West London & St George's training scheme.

She is a member of the Royal College of Psychiatrists and is listed on the Specialist Register of the General Medical Council as a Child & Adolescent Psychiatrist.

In addition to her private practice, Dr Karim works as a Consultant in NHS Surrey & Borders' CAMHS service in Guildford. She lives in Surrey and has 2 children.

How to book an appointment

Dr Karim welcomes both self-referred patients and patients referred to her by other healthcare professionals.

If you are considering self-referring your child to Dr Karim, she offers a free-of-charge 20 minute phone discussion to help you decide if she is the right professional for your needs. This can be booked online or you can phone or email her. If she is not the right person to help your child, she will do her best to direct you to someone who is.

Dr Karim's clinics are held in the evenings and weekends in:

  • Guildford (Brighter Spaces, 54 Quarry Street, Guildford GU1 3UA)

  • Esher (Esher Groves, 13-17 Church Street, Esher, Surrey KT10 8QS)

Her Esher clinic is on Saturday morning and her Guildford clinics are on Tuesday morning and Thursday afternoon and evening. The Tuesday morning clinic is a neurodevelopmental clinic, in which Dr Karim carries out ASD (ADOS) and ADHD assessments. She is able to offer follow-up appointments via Videoconference for patients who would prefer this.

Dr Karim is registered with the majority of private medical insurers (except for AXA PPP), including BUPA, Cigna, WPA, Vitality and Aviva.
